On Wednesday 28 October I was travelling East along the A590 from Ambleside to Ingleton and noticed Vampire XD684 going in the opposite direction on a low loader lorry. It was part of a 13 truck convoy moving a Canberra (WT537 ex Samlesbury Gate Guard) , Lightning Cockpit, a Jet Provost and tons of parts and spares to the museum at Millom. The Canberra was the Gate Guard from Samlesbury and the others came out of the BAe North West Heritage Group located within the Museum of Science & Industry store in Swinton which had closed down.

Hello Griff
I had heard that Millom were getting the Salmesbury gate gaurd Canberra but didn't realise they had all the other stuff as well. I spend my weekdays on Walney Island just across the river Duddon from Millom, so i will try to get round there and see what the state of play is.
I understand they have collected quite a few bits of former Emerald '748's and also hope to get the Series 1 G-BEJD moved up from Blackpool at some stage.
I do think they have taken on a whole lot of restoration projects recently, i just hope they have the people to do the work?
Cheers

Hello Griff
I did go to the Millom Museum a few years ago and before they opened there second site. I think they only had one complete airframe at the time. They really have expanded.
Do you know if the Tornado F3 that was stored at Swinton is at Millom or is that going on display in Manchester Air & Space Museum?
Cheers
