I suppose the Labour party was to blame for the whole world recession, the banking crisis happened all over the world not just here in the uk,let`s get it right. None of the above comments are anything to do with why we are constantly overlooked by central government,as if Liverpool does`nt exist. That`s me finished on the topic.

Time to put this one to bed methinks--great crossing swords again in this light hearted way--we all are hoping for better for LJLA and despite having their backs to the wall the management team are doing an unbelievably good job.
looking forwards to our next joust--thanks to the moderators for allowing us some rope.

Final word from me on the subject. One of my current roles is Project Management in the automotive industry supply chain and a comment I hear frequently from potential overseas investors is "if we set up a factory in the UK, how long will it be before the first strike?". Now we all know that industrial relations have improved massively since the dark days of the 70's and early 80's but the perception of our "militant" past is still haunting us. Yes, I know that there are success stories like Nissan in Washington etc and I'm equally aware that Nissan are not a British company but they employ 6,000 people directly, probably another 6,000 indirectly in the supply chain and have recently announced further significant investment.
I was at an event last week focused on increasing the percentage of parts manufactured in the UK used in UK assembled cars from the current level of 30% to over 50%. Also of note is that the number of cars built in the UK is forecast to exceed 2 million a year in 2017 for the first time ever! The current buzz word being "re-shoring" parts that moved manufacture to Eastern Europe and Asia over the last 15 years.
The point of all my waffle above? Along with the SMMT, James Wharton MP (who heads the Northern Powerhouse team) is instrumental in this process. This can only be to the good for North West jobs at Ellesmere Port, Halewood and their associated supply chains!
