I am posting this in a lesser used section not to over write others posts. My question is, has any one had problems with the Windows 10 up-date? I updated mine about a month ago and have two problems. I use Google Chrome and if I have about three windows open the computer freezes. If I use Windows Microsoft Edge it doesn't freeze but I prefer Google Chrome. The other problem is I have no sound.Tried everything but no joy. Ideas any one? Regards Beemer.

Brian,
The upgrade knackered my Laptop and i have now lost the recovery partition on it even when i use the backup disc's. The windows update doesn't work on my laptop either, stuck on Windows 7 only with no service pack 1.
Same thing happened on my main pc, but i managed to get it working again and the windows update works on this, looks like i have lost the recovery partition on the hard drive on this also.
Make sure your databases and pictures are backed up just incase your pc goes t**s up.
Phil

It totally screwed my mates laptop up and he had to have it rebuilt at a computer shop. Its a bit worrying.

Iv'e had the same problem with chrome Brian but think it is more a chrome problem rather than Windows 10 I just restart from the power button and then restore chrome have you tried upgrading you sound drivers hope this is of some John

Just learn to "prefer" edge is the answer to the first point.:+) Chrome is a bit glitchy with w10.. But of course they want you to use edge which is a class product. I too had the sound problem (quite common reading reviews of w10 from others) and is down to drivers as John states although mine was compounded by w10 putting the vol to zero. Maverick

Hi Beemer,
No problems at this end with W10 been using it since the public beta on both the desktop & laptop.
Is the sound issue only via chrome/edge or is it when using anything within the windows Operating system?

I have started to use Edge and there are no freezing problems but there is still no sound. No sound at all whether it be playing music or just computer sounds per say. I have tried downloading drivers for Windows sound but it says it is up to date. I have a Lenovo computer and I have not tried down loading new drivers for the sound card yet. Regards Beemer.

I have the Lenovo Drivers disc that came with it but just says Windows 7. Would this work or should I go on line for Windows 10 version. Regards Beemer.

I'm currently using a windows 7 driver on the netbook I have and that's running with windows 10, it could be worth a try though, alternatively Windows 8/8.1 drivers also have been known to work too. What's the model of the Lenovo computer your using as I'll have a look for the up to date drivers for it

The "RTL8188CE" seems to be related to the Wireless card, From memory on the odd occasion I've had to sort one of these out the Sound is either by Realtek or Connexant If you go onto support.lenovo.com/us/en/products?tabName=Downloads and run the auto detect via there own software then it'll bring everything you need to know up about the computer (model number etc)

I have uploaded all the drivers from the Lenovo disc but still no sound. I may borrow a spare speaker from my neighbour and see if that works. The speakers are built into the screen on mine, like most I suppose.

It could be the speakers, If I had a spare set I'd drop them off for you to try, although if you have a set of headphones you could also try that way?

I have just plugged a set of ear phones in and they work perfectly. As you say it looks like the speakers have gone kaput. Thanks for your help. Regards Beemer.
