Emergency services for the WHOLE of the North West have gone down today, no 999, nothing!! The computer systems in the police station are down an they reckon the radios will go out next!!
They didnt give a day or date when they would be back up, but i think it is stupid they dont even have a backup for this sort of problem!
Is this an act of terrorism or not!?
Give us your thoughts guys.

Do you have a source for this please? Can't find anything on local news websites or teletext Thought it might have warranted a mention by now! Don't think I'll try dialling 999 to see if it works!

Isn't it only in Cumbria where the floods have caused havoc, in the Cockermouth area.

The title and nature of this thread are very misleading.
It may have been the internal computer system within the Merseyside Police Force but it certainly wasn't the 999 system, nor was it the Airwave radio system which is used to communicate between the control rooms and the Officers on the beat.
And I can assure you that the 999 network for the North West Ambulance Service (which incidentally covers Cumbria) has not been affected by either the flooding, nor this alleged problem within Merseyside Police.

Any more panic we can spread ? My thoughts are that this sort of information should not be made public on a forum.

Fortunately the original posts (one of which has been deleted) are so riddled with poor grammar and mis-use of written English conventions that I totally dismissed them as having any real accuracy. Much as I dismiss those e-mails that proport to come from my Bank, which have far fewer errors, but emanate from Nigeria.
If the original postees are upset by my statements, then consider, like it or not, that clearly put and literate information impresses the recipient. I really do hope you don't write your cv to impress potential employers in the same manner as you place entries to impress and inform members of this forum. That is not to say that I demand perfection, I don't, but I do expect evidence of an effort toward accuracy and literate use of our language to communicate.
Rant, if it is a rant, over.

I suspect it was the PNC that was down, rather than the entire 999 system. For such a system to go down would take some doing...
