Hi folks, My brother, Phil, has just reminded me that, 40 years ago last Friday on the 20th November 1969, former British Eagle Viscount G-ATDR was rolled out of the old British Eagle hangar at Speke where it had been stored for over a year after the demise of the airline. Phil was lucky to be at the airport that day and got the shock of his life to see this aircraft, still in full BE livery with full titles. Two long-haired blokes got in it and It did a number of high-speed taxies down runway 26 before finally taking off - sounding more like a piston than turboprop aircraft (!) and departing (wheels down) to Blackbushe, where it was subsequently scrapped. Both Phil and myself wonder if anyone else remembers this occasion and whether anyone took photos as he didn't have his camera with him ... it was long before the days of everyone knowing in advance what was going to happen!! Cheers, Dave
