LN-FOK at Speke 25.5.60 These flights were used to transfer crews from the Norwegian whalers which used to dock in the north end of the dock system. Note the runway caravan at the end of runway 17; also note the HF aerial above the forward passenger door. It was unusual for short-haul aircraft to have HF aerials, but with the sort of ad-hoc work Fred Olsen used to do, it was probably very useful. IAC Provost 13/04/1960 G-AMOL 17/04/1960 in its original BEA colours. A little more than 5 years later, in its Cambrian livery, it was to plunge into what was then Mothaks, killing two of my colleagues and two people who had stayed late to do extra work. What is not generally known is that because of the complexities of loading and unloading the cargo, it was considerably behind schedule. Had it been on time, the factory would have been open and full of staff. 01/05/1960 27/10/1960 06/01/1960 26/03/1960 (Grand National Day) 19/04/1960 04/09/1960 05/06/1960 16/05/1960 08/09/1960 08/06/1960 08/06/1960 29/03/1960. I seem to remember that this was a charter rather than a diversion. Usually there was more than one diversion if MAN was out. The picture also suggests that the weather at LPL was very clear. 10/10/1960
