Where exactly is this Airport Pub and Grill? Would like to avoid it. Its towards Shadow Moss Road by the threshold of 23R, it's got good views of landings on 23R. It's very popular with families who like to go and watch the planes. The problem is the food is great, the staff are really friendly and since they refurbished the pub it's a really nice place to be. They have my favourites on draught and bottles which is a good variety of guest ales (which I only sample when I go on the train). It's a real shame they have these new ANPR cameras instead of the good old fashioned pay and display, the pub said they are controlled by the Airport and it frustrates them when angry customers take their letters to them because they were queueing to get off the car park and then face a penalty for being 3 or 4 minutes over their time. UPDATE....I have been back on the phone to the pub and managed to speak to the Manager, I am going tomorrow on the train so the car park won't get anymore money from me and he wants to see my tickets and letter that was sent to me, he said he will try and speak to them..........................fingers crossed.

Noticed that there are new signs about parking just gone up in the retail park opposite the old airport and a guy walking around with a ticket machine so watch out. Also watch out for the Crown plaza / Marriot (old terminal) as they operate an ANPR (AUTOMATIC NUMBER PLATE RECOGNITION) system, had a ticket off them as well but argued the point as the sign warning you it was in operation was facing the wrong way as you drove in. That,s pretty standard for these cowboys to put up signs facing the wrong way or in very small print. Scam artists the lot of them...............

I had a letter today from the car parking ANPR company saying no further action will be taken, I politely requested a day in court along with my witnesses of my movements that day, one a magistrate the other a GP amongst others who have a lot to lose for telling porky pies whilst under oath. I sent in copies of their statements that I obtained from them, plus photo copies of the tickets I purchased plus a witness that can confirm that I left then returned later from a fellow spotter at the pub.
Thanks for all the replies, I'm glad it's been put to bed now.

I had a similar incident at what used to be the Valley Lodge. The lane was chokka so went into the car park to turn round, came back out and parked in the lane then later on passed through the car park to get onto Wilmslow Road. At no point was I parked in the car park and got slapped with a £60 fine. Unfortunately I had no physical evidence of this an so felt I had no option but pay as the threat of having to pay £100 if not paid in 14 days.
It's a sorry world we live in sometimes.

ANPR is only as good as the person operating it, it's a great tool in the correct trained hands but I shudder when poorly trained civvies/divvies use it for private car parking problems. As I identified to the company at the pub, their cameras are in the wrong place as the camera was unable to read my plate when first leaving due to a car too close behind so when I left for the second time it recorded me as one visit. I have now fitted my vehicle with dashcam's front and back so next time I can play back my whole movements for that day. ANPR = A******s Not Properly Recording!
