Boxing Day I visited the pub to wish a fellow spotter a belated Merry Christmas, arrived at 15.25 and only stayed a max of 30 minutes, I paid for the hour which was £1.50 on arrival. I had to go home due to a problem and left, I then went back to the pub at 18.15 as I needed the 380, again I paid the 1.50 and left at 19.05 (of course no alcohol was consumed by the way). To my shock I've just received a penalty charge of £60 with a nice photo of my car arriving at 15.25 and leaving at 19.05 saying I over stayed and was caught on their ANPR. The problem is I left approx 16.00hrs and returned at 18.15, I still have the pay and display tickets. As usual I cant get to speak to a human being on the phone and no doubt the appeal wont be listened to.
Just thought I would warn any spotters who may be going there, I have an idea what ANPR stands for but I best not say as it's a family forum!

steve have you thought of speaking to the pub manager ...would imagine he would have a direct number to get hold of them or might even be able to get it quashed for you when you give him details etc

DO NOT PAY THIS, TELL THEM TO TAKE YOU TO COURT. REPLY TO ALL LETTERS WITH "TAKE ME TO COURT" AND IF THEY START PUTTING UP THE COST OF THE FINE START BILLING THEM FOR YOUR LETTERS OF REPLY. I had a bunch of cowboys try this with me at an ASDA store in Gloucester a couple of years ago, I threatened to take them to the small claims court for the £900.00 they owed me for my letters to them, needless to say never heard from them again. BLOODY COWBOYS THE LOT OF THEM........

Hi Dave, spoke to him earlier, he said there's nothing he can do as it's to do with the airport what goes on on the car park as it's separate from the pub, if I don't pay the fine within 14 days of issue it rockets up to £100. There's been a few fed up customers getting fines for going over by 3 minutes but in my case I actually left the car park and returned later and bought another pay and display ticket. I just don't want any other members have the same happen to them.

if they have written to you write back enclosing photocopies of your pay and display receipts...ask them to check your leaving times and re entry time etc would be tempted to bluff it out and let them take you to court but is it worth the stress etc??

The stress I can do without, I will send photocopies of my display tickets along with statements from friends I was with them between visits plus a friend at the pub that I left and came back.

Let them take you to court.
They haven't a leg to stand on.
Might even be able to claim damages.

As already stated:-
Send a letter enclosing photocopies of your parking receipts (DO NOT SEND THE ORIGINALS.)
Send this letter registered or by some means whereby you know it has been received.
If you hear more from them, just ignore them and wait for a summons to which you can reply. In your reply you can reiterate what you previously wrote and counter claim your expenses. Typically £30 for every time you have to write to them plus postal charges and a claim for your inconvenience and stress.
Don't forget this is a CIVIL matter. (Not a matter for the criminal courts.). The onus is upon them to prove you at fault in a civil court.
DO NOT PAY....

I will post what happens, I also sent in five independent statements from people who say I was 26 miles away between 4.30 and 5.40, when the car park company alleged I was on their car park, two of whom remember me saying I was going back to the airport to get an aircraft that I needed which was met with the usual "get a life" replies. Plus with my tickets this should prove that no contract was broken between myself and the ANPR clowns. ANPR is only as good as the person using it and put in the hands of civilians for car parking reasons makes me shudder.

Thanks for the replies by the way and I'll post as soon as I hear anything, I'll also be having a ride on the train tomorrow to speak to the general manager of the pub as I won't let the matter drop until the case is dropped by the car parking company. Unenforceable DO NOT PAY, only tickets from Police and Traffic Wardens have to be paid unless you have a valid reason to dispute them.
