A few photos of ongoing work on the elevated road section at the Runcorn side of the bridge with the building of the pillars and laying of the beams on top. Cityflier, the old bridge will be modified and made into a two lane bridge with pedestrian walkways and it will only serve Runcorn and Widnes, meaning it will connect with local roads in each of the two towns. It will not be a short cut from say, Liverpool to Chester. Regards Beemer.

Thanks, I'll make the most of the old bridge when it is free as I WON'T pay for something that was previously free. When transiting from Scotland (A land where there are no Bridge Tolls) to Wales I enjoyed going via the motorway that runs down the East side of Liverpool then crossing the bridge.
I will cross the canal @ Thelwall on the M6 then enter Wales via the M56. but on the downside I will not be able to visit Liverpool Airport in the Passing, but you cant win them all
