A busy morning - starting with ZK028/S Hawk T.2 as "VYT 55" on a go-round before 09.00 (serial from Planefinder), then just as I arrived at RWY at 0935 a Cessna 525 "Clifton 646" departed (see later).
The French Air Force made their first appearance of the year when "Cotam 1745" EMB121 Xingu 072/FTEYA arrived at 1050 - this one in a smart white/light grey scheme rather than the usual drab dark grey (I thought this might be a new scheme, however Acklington recalls it as being the original scheme ?). It departed for Avord at 1425 using the same callsign.
Next was "Saltire 068R" Challenger 300 G-KALS, at 1140, departing about 1620. Another Hawk T.2 "VYT97" ZK014/E (to be confirmed) made a go-round at 1225, followed by C130J Hercules C5 ZH883 (again tbc) as "Ascot 086" which made go-rounds at 1245 and 1255 before flying round the island at low level then departing back to Brize. Another Hawk T.2 "VYT57" went round at 1300. (The two serials to be confirmed were given out by the respective pilots but hopefully Alex will be able to provide photographic confirmation ?).
Finally "Clifton 646" returned at 1645 in the form of Cessna 525A G-SONE - presumably the same aircraft as in the morning ?

Yep, that scheme has been in use since the 1980's or before. See this photo taken at Bristol in 1986; The French Navy continue to use it, rather than the overall dark grey of the Air Force. It may be that today's aircraft was originally destined for the Navy?

I can can confirm the Citation in the morning was G-SONE. The Hercules was indeed ZH883 as was VYT97 ZK014/E. I was busy at the time so didn't catch VYT57. I have noticed ATC asking Military aircraft on Low-approach/ go-arounds or even some that land for their tail numbers a lot more than they used to. Maybe lacking a decent pair of binoculars?! Just seems to be happening more frequently than previous years.
