I'm a rare contributor this section and am sailing close to the forum rules on advertising.
However, I'm currently facing a rapid, forced, major 'downsizing', my first house move in 30 years. I'm looking for helpful suggestions as to how best to find new homes from/around Liverpool, and even hopefully make a little money out of (but without the time consuming exercise of selling individually on e-bay):
A record collection of likely 70-80 LPs - mostly 70s pop/metal/electric folk/classical compilations.
A collection of tape cassettes - mostly compilations, ditto the above categories. Home recordings I have to junk, even though I know the 'story' behind many of them.
A collection of video tape movies. Again I know the huge number of 'home' recordings are now simply 'junk', but are the manufactured ones too?
Pre-decimal (ie pre 1970) 'school boy' coin collection, assorted 'foreign' small demonination and an oval 'Humbug' tin of well worn Victoria Pennies (nothing known to be rare!).
Several stamp collections. Albums of Worldwide used and some mint through to around 1980, especially UK and NZ.
A Collection comprising the vast majority of British FDCs from early 60s through to late 80s, including some early (so rarer) phosphor band stamps with first day issue handstamp (these are not FDC special envelopes though). I'm now well out of touch with stamp dealers.
FDCs for the first 10+ years of Isle of Man special issues (just a few off a full set).
A large number of Aviation themed special event covers, but no complete sets, mostly 70s.
Potentially do (did?) have some value, but how do I make money out of them now that stamp collectors are as rare as people collecting hen's teeth??
A great number of cuddly toys (I'll deny they're mine, as they are indeed not mine) - hospitals will not accept 'used' toys, nor will some charity shops.
A partial 'Japanese' tea service, highly decorated bone china tea-cups, saucers etc.
A number of various geological rock samples from around the world - mostly unlabeled though.
An old heavy 'porter's trolley' with cast iron wheels, well worn wood and old woodworm holes to give authenticity as to age (guessed at 80-100 years)!
A collection of 150+ paperbacks (around half are pre 1970 editions) of WWII biographies/unit histories/campaigns - land, sea and air. Some are in poor condition, all are aged! Most are common due to more recent reprints eg 'Dam Busters' Paul Brickhill, others possibly rarer eg 'They Shall Not Pass Unseen' 467(?) Sqdn RAAF Sunderlands hardback. Couple of WWII hardbacks on flight and airmanship.
Around 20 (I think) immediately post WWII RAF 'Air Map' sheets (overprinted colour OS maps), different scales, print editions, mostly Midlands and North Wales, some duplicated (The Airfields Research Group has been suggested, but I would have to get them to Alconbury and there is nothing not known about (indeed much missing that should be shown) to make them a research asset though). Rolled and edges damaged.
Three varnished wood and paint relief wall plaque 'shields'. Size varies between 7 and 9 inches tall. A Royal Air Force badge, 80 Sqdn badge and 'The Goldfish Club' with winged goldfish logo. I am trying to contact the daughter of the WWII Typhoon pilot who gave these to me many years ago. If she does not want them, are they of interest to anyone? Light damage, mostly flaking/faded/chipped aging paint.
My 'glossy' mags have already gone to TAC at Hooton Park, while my print and slide collections, CAMS, registers and local history assets will be moving with me!
The first member who suggests dumping all this on the 27 mound gets banned!! Seriously though, I'm hoping to re-locate these items without resorting to destruction. Do please Post any wise and sensible suggestions, or PM me with offers if anything could add to your collection(s).
Brian.
