Well looks like LFC is going to win and will be in finals. A friend of my told me that the will be about 20,000 fans going to Switzerland. I am wondering if that true would LPL get all the a charter flights? If yes thats about 18 aircraft which are B737 size. But I'm all wondering could we get some big boys in because of this including B747, B777, A340, A330 etc. does any one have any info? I Know its early but that will be a big spotting event in LPL. The final is on the 18Th of May.

Dawid I feel your maths needs revision . 18 aircraft of B 737 size at 180 seats a plane gives 3240 seats. To take 20,000 fans needs 110 737 size aircraft. Now that will beat night of Caravelles! But wouldn't have the nostalgia that us oldies could reminisce about. Whatever we get should be a good day, bring it on
It will only be in the week before the final that it will become clear which airlines and aircraft types will be involved. Even then there will a few changes right upto the day before.
I don't think that there will be as many aircraft involved as to Athens or Istanbul, as Switzerland is so much more accessible by road and rail. There is also a small matter of the airports, will Basle be able cope with a simultaneous invasion of aircraft from both Britain and Spain? The smaller stadium will have an effect on available tickets and therefore on the numbers of fans flying out too.
As for use of Jumbo jets, somehow I doubt it as there are exceedingly few left operating in Europe with charter airlines, and those few still with scheduled service operators are fully utilised in the summer months. Those operated by a Spanish operator (if they still have them) will be employed from Spain and the French Corsair ones have largely ended their days at Kemble. Same is true of the A.300, A.310, Tristar and DC-10 which have massively figured in previous fan airlifts. There certainly will be wide-bodies, the A.330 in particular is now widely popular with charter operators having largely replaced the A.300, Boeing 767 etc.
I see no need to speculate, it will not be that long before early details become known. There will though be a mad scramble across Europe to find and secure all available aircraft for the twin airlifts from Britain and Spain.
The number of tickets for Liverpool has been announced - 10,236.
Of those, only 4,810 will be for general supporters, 4,197 for 'contractual supporters' 1,024 for club staff, players and media, and 205 for 'commercial partners'.
Not a lot really, for such a well-supported club.
Make of these numbers what you will, but any 'airlift' is unlikely to be as big as in the previous finals being mentioned here. I'm sure it'll still be a good couple of days.
