Does anyone remember when there was significant snowfall at the airport in the past, resulting in runway closures? How did they deal with de-icing in 60 & 70's, was it the same as today? Has anyone any pics on snowy scenes from old balcony?

Here's some of the photos that I have showing snow/ice at LPL:- Dan Air Dakota G-AMPP circa 1970/1 Cambrian Viscounts G-AMNZ and G-ALWF 1970/1 Diverted BEA Trident being de-iced on the western apron 1970/1 The next two are early 1980s and show a BMA F-27 taxying out and a diverted Nigerian DC-10 parked on r/w 26 Cheers, Dave

Theres a nice shot of snow at Burtonwood on the site www.rafburtonwood.org/, January 1958. looked very much the same when I passed today, minus the aircraft & hangars that is!! Griff
