A photo of 'AL in service. Taken at Guernsey on December 15th 2005, just before departing to Hamburg as JEM384. The flight took 2 hours 55 mins, then another 2 hours 40 mins on to Coventry as JEM385. It looks like it was fitted with one of the props from the former CAFU machines (G-AVXI & XJ) which Emerald used for spares having found that they couldn't be converted to freighters. Cheers Shaun

Just found this link on another forum. www.caa.co.uk/docs/213/1944.pdfThe jist of which is that Janes Aviation's operating licence was revoked on March 18th 2010 by the CAA at the operators request. I remember last year that Janes requested a three month suspension, so i guess thats 'game over' for '748 commercial operation on these shores. I dont suppose 'IM and 'OE are going to be very airworthy after the prolonged grounding? Although I guess if any '748's are going to make it into a museum these two have to be favourite? Cheers Shaun

Anyone remember the Ryanair 748's? Did they ever visit? Any photographic evidence?

Surprised no one has picked up on this yet - forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=101986Seems there are plans afoot to get a 748 to Speke for preservation and they are looking for help with funding. Also explains the sudden request for pictures of said airframe at Speke earlier today, which incidentally afraid I cant help with if you are reading this SAHG! Rooted through my pictures without success. Has to be worthy of our support surely? Anyway, I have sent an email to their pledge email (savebejd@spekeaero.org to save other old eyes trying to spot it like I did!) offering what I can spare to help with their efforts Its exciting to think we could have a budgie at Speke soon!

Yes, I can confirm that a lot of work is going on to try and get 'JD back to Speke. The logistics/funding and a myriad other things are time consuming to say the least. Support though has been fantastic and not only from the UK either!
We are currently awaiting permission from the current Landowners of the North field and if that is granted then hopefully things should all happen fairly quickly.
Snippets of 'JD history or photo's of the old girl would be gratefully received to aid with publicity etc etc.
Donations to the cause are of course always welcome. This heritage lark doesn't come cheap !
I'll post news here as I get it.
If anyone has ideas/questions/wads of cash, please feel free to contact me directly at roy@SpekeAero.org
