Fantastic photos once again - thank you for the update.
Is there an expected 'join up' date/timescale?

It is supposed to be finished this autumn but I don't see it. Maybe spring next year. Beemer.

Looking back a couple of pages of this section, it was only October '16 that the bridge decking started to extend out from the three towers. In under 5 winter months, what appears to be around half of the actual spans are now constructed. So a guestimate of (maybe) late June to join the two banks with complete road-bed spans. A further 4 months to lay the drains, utilities, road surface foundations and tarmac along the entire length of the elevated roadways and connect the new roadways to the existing network - so I reckon that September/October '17 is quite attainable.
The project was stated to be several months behind schedule a year or so ago, but since then they have apparently brought in a second road-bed casting machine, rather than move the first one across to the other side. Also they have had a very mild winter '16/17, with little in the way of frost (hard frosts play havoc with concrete laying programmes), barely a few flurries of sleet/snow while even the winter storms seem to have been few and fairly brief. I would think that they have caught up on any early delays during the mild winter.
So based entirely on casual, uninformed observation, I would think Autumn '17 completion is quite feasible. The joining, and changing of roads from favouring the old bridge to the new is going to be a challenging time for motorists! Tidying up the road joins will likely continue for a while after the new crossing is open.

dumb question from many miles away - but is the old Runcorn-Widnes bridge going to remain - how far away from that is this new crossing? JD

Jetdragon. The old Runcorn/Widnes bridge is to remain. When the new one is up and running the old one will close for serious mtce and it will be reduced to two lanes with pedestrian walk ways. You will be charged to use it just like the new one but it won't be a thoroughfare like it is now as it will only be for local traffic. The New bridge is less than a mile away to the east between the old old one and Fiddlers Ferry power station. Hope this helps. Beemer

I have been reading the controversy about tolls, but just wondered if there is any "Euro" money in this project and if there is any risk of it being withdrawn or asked for it back?
