Is the "F-BTGV Super Guppy Aeromaritime" the predecessor to the Beluga? The original Guppy's were based on Boeing Stratocruiser airframes. They were developed to transport space rocket components in support of NASA's Apollo Moon programme. GC

Well - who could ask for more from Avro748? 3 x 1-11's with an equal number of 747's as a backdrop for starters. Two 707's a Tristar, B732, Caravelle, and 1-11 to finish. Nostalgia and a half - heavenly to say the least.

As far as I can remember the four Super Guppies were...
F-BTGV/1 ; F-BPPA/2 ; F-GEAI/3 and F-GDSG/4 but I'm sure somebody will correct me if that's wrong.
They started off in Aeromaritime colours as in the beautiful photo earlier and later appeared in a variety of Airbus schemes.
I'm going to have scan some slides soon!

Wish I had kept all my old slides from the 70's at manchester, was dragged there multiple times a week as a kid with my dad spotting, love the old a/c shorts 330's 360's 707's tridents etc so much more character than todays jets.

Having been inspired by the interest generated by mw5's excellent 'Seventies Ringway' book. I thought i would resurrect this thread, in the hope that the more senior ('old gits') amongst us will post their seventies photos here. Here is your starter for Ten ....Ten assorted B707 and DC8's. CF-CPJ June 1977 C-FFAN July 1975 CF-TIU July 1975 C-GRYN May 1979 G-BPAT July 1978 N803WA April 1978 N821F July 1976 N872TV June 1979 N906CL July 1978 YR-ABC August 1975 I hope that lot stirs some memories and provides encouragement for you to dig out those old slides/negs and post them here. Cheers Shaun
