We are enjoying a long weekend in this fabulous city which is worthy of its reputation of one great place to visit. I notice that cruise ships stop here, yesterday The Braemar, and like Liverpool the bearthing point is right in the heart of the city, a stone's throw from the civic buildings. In the last 20 years the city has undergone a fabulous restoration, leaving a truly superb waterfront, thankfully uncluttered by carbuncles like the one at the pier head. Good temperature, good eating. Great transport system. We came down by train from our home town France and are staying in a hotel exactly opposite the station and next to a mini transport hub for trams and buses, and yet it is a nice quiet room. Just perfect.
