Fokker 70 & 100 visits in the Noughties Decade2000All Fokker 70/100 visitors were due to the activities of British Midland:
G-BVJA, G-BVJB, G-BVJC, G-BVJD, G-BVTG, G-BXWE and
G-BXWF. Notably G-BVTG would be the last Fokker 70 to visit until 2009.
2001Fewer British Midland aircraft called in 2001, Fokker 100s
G-BVJB, G-BVJD, G-BXWE, G-BXWF, along with final visits by Air UK's Fokker 100 in the form of
G-UKFB and
G-UKFC.
2003After 10 consecutive years of visits by the type, none appeared in 2002. However 2003 saw the last visits by British Midland's diminishing fleet of the type (
G-BVJB &
G-BXWF) and the first European operated Fokker jets since 1994, with
EC-IPV and
F-GNLH of Blue Line, both, if memory serves correctly, were on football related charters.
2004Fokker 100
EC-IPV and a different Blue Line aircraft
F-GNLG appeared, again I think both on football related charters.
2005Two Blue Line aircraft, with repeat visits by both
F-GNLG and
F-GNLH. However
PH-OFI of KLM Cityhopper was not quite as new as it seemed, having previously visited as PH-ZCN (although did not call while with Air UK as G-UKFI).
2006Sole Fokker 100 to visit was Blue Line's now familiar
F-GNLG.
2007Again, the sole Fokker 100 to visit was Blue Line's
F-GNLG.
2008For the fifth year in succesion Blue Line's
F-GNLG appeared on football related charter. Bringing guests in for the MTV Europe Music Awards were two Germania operated Fokker 100s arriving on Thursday 6th November and night stopping,
D-AGPL f&t Berlin/Tegel and
D-AGPA f&t Dusseldorf. Both on the ground for around 24 hours.
2009KLM commenced scheduled operations with Fokker 70 aircraft on Sunday 29th March.
PH-KZG operated the first rotation f&t Amsterdam, with
PH-KZN and
PH-KZP operating further rotations during the day. In the first 5 weeks of operation to the end of April all the active Fokker 70 were seen at Liverpool.

PH-KZU first visited during May,
PH-KZV first visited in September, while
PH-KZS first appeared in KLM service during October. All 26 in the fleet visited during 2009.

KLM have also used the very occasional Fokker 50 or 100 in leiu of a Fokker 70. Fokker 100s used
PH-OFL & PH-OFP in April,
PH-OFE in May and
PH-OFB in July,
PH-OFO in September,
PH-KLIand
PH-OFO in October and
PH-OFB, PH-OFD, PH-OFE, PH-OFM, PH-OFO in November, with
PH-OFL and
PH-OFM in December.
Apart from the KLM aircraft, a further Fokker 70 to appear during the year, mid afternoon on Sunday 12th July was Austrian Airlines
OE-LFK which arrived from Innsbruck to collect a Liverpool FC outbound charter for Altenrhein and pre-season matches in Southern Germany and Austria. LFC returned to Liverpool via matches in the Far East.
A record year with 27 Fokker 70 and 8 Fokker 100 = 35 different aircraft during the year. Indeed with 26 KLM, 3 BMA and 1 Austrian, no less than 30 of the 47 Fokker 70s constructed have visited Liverpool in five years.
Fokker 70/100 aircraft visits during the Twenty-Tens Decade.2010On 23rd April Blue Line's Fokker 100
F-GNLH made a futher football related visit when LFC used it to return from Madrid after the Europa Cup Semi-Final first leg.
By the end of April all of KLMs fleet of 26 Fokker 70s and the remaining 5 Fokker 100s,
PH-OFL, OFM, OFN, OFO & OFP had visited on the Amsterdam scheduled service. Of these the only one not to have appeared before was PH-OFN, which first called in February.
On Wednesday 14th July Austrian Airlines Fokker 70
OE-LFJ positioned in from Vienna to take Liverpool FC out for pre-season training camp (as they did, the previous year too). Thats the 31st different Fokker 70 to call at Liverpool out of the 47 built!
LFC returned on 21st July on Fokker 70
OE-LFK. Not quite a record year, with a total of 34 different aircraft in 2010, one down on the previous year.

2011With KLM now serving LJLA 4 times daily with Fokker 70, sometimes substituted by Fokker 100, already many of their fleet have now visited during 2011. Indeed in January 2011 no less than 24 of the 26 Fokker 70, plus all 5 Fokker 100s still in service were used by KLM through Liverpool. The January 2011 missing Fokker 70s being PH-KZP and PH-KZS, however, both visited in February, so 'fleeting' the KLM Fokker 70/100 fleet of 31 aircraft for the year. With no other carrier operating Fokker 70/100 into LJLA during 2011, the year end total stands as 31 different aircraft, 26 Fokker 70, plus 5 Fokker 100.
2012During January 2012 21 different Fokker 70s and all 5 of the Fokker 100s remaining in service were employed on KLM Amsterdam link. The bad news is that the service was withdrawn at the end of March 2012, after which visits to Liverpool by Fokker 70/100s will once again be few and far between. In the first three months of the year, 25 out of the fleet of 26 Fokker 70s and all 5 remaining Fokker 100s had visited. The missing Fokker 70 being PH-WZH.
On Saturday 4th February poor weather (falling snow?) brought Swiss Fokker 100
HB-JVC to Liverpool on diversion from Birmingham at 1828 inbound from Zurich. The aircraft departed Liverpool for Zurich a little over 2 hours later.
Towards the end of the year, for a Europa League match at Anfield, supporters of Young Boys of Berne, Switzerland arrived on 22nd November on
9A-BTE a Fokker 100 of SunAdria, but using Skywork of Berne call-sign flight numbers. It returned to Berne the following morning.

Total Fokker 70/100 aircraft for the year 2012 = 32, not quite the record of 35 set in 2009, but still one better than 2011 - however it is very unlikely we will even see double figures in a year again.
2013No visits by Fokker 70/100 aircraft during 2013.
20142014 provided the last visit by Fokker 70s for a fair few years. First though was a return of our friends, KLM, this time though Fokker 70
PH-KZC on Wednesday 2nd April arrived at 1007 from Amsterdam of weather diversion due to WX at Leeds/Bradford. Flight KLM 1545 was on the ground at Liverpool, with passengers aboard for 90 minutes before completing the flight to Leeds. This proved to be the last time a KLM Fokker 70/100 appeared at Liverpool as their fleet of Embraer ERJ aircraft grew rapidly,
indeed it was also the final visit by the smaller Fokker 70. Next came a Fokker 100 operated by Carpatair (KRP) on Saturday 2nd September with
YR-FKA from Oporto at 1802 with Porto FC for a series of UK friendly games. The aircraft departed empty for Cuneo, Italy after an hour on the ground. The same Carpatair Fokker 100 YR-FKA was back on Wednesday 1st October at 1510 with the Catalan Dragons to play at St.Helens. The aircraft waited departing after the match at 0013 on Friday 3rd, operated f&t Perpignan. The Dutch Royal Flight Fokker 70
PH-KBX arrived at John Lennon 1219 on Sunday 16th November, departing Monday afternoon at 1303, routing Birmingham-Liverpool-Amsterdam. Although the Dutch Royal Flight's aircraft, the Fokker 70 was being flown by a KLM crew and operated as KLM 9925/9926.

2015Just two different aircraft, but on 4 different charter flights.
PH-MJP of Denim Air brought in, then took home Young Boys FC for a European Cup v. EFC. Operated f&t Berne, arriving Wed 25th February 1213, departing on Friday 1501. The aircraft was back on Friday 3rd July, this time operating the return leg of a Lourdes Pilgrimage charter, arriving from Tarbes International 2115, departing for an outbound load to Birmingham at 2205. Second Fokker 100 of the year was
D-AOLG of Avanti Air, which on Monday 12th October operated a private charter inbound from Berne at 1645 as 'ISK946', before departing to Paris/CdG two hours later on an Avanti call-sign as 'ATV702G'. Nearly a month later the same aircraft was back, this time arriving with a load of WWE Wrestlers on tour, from Madrid Sunday 8th November arriving at 0209, positioning across to Manchester nearly two days later on 29th at 2113.

2016Just one aircraft, appearing twice during February on the same charter, Denim's
PH-MJP again. On Friday 12th athe aircraft arrived from Amsterdam empty at 1508, departing with a private charter to Bournemouth a little over an hour early. The passengers were back from Bournemouth on Saturday evening at 2200. The aircraft returning to Amsterdam on 21st at 1055 on a ferry flight. Times indicate a sports team as the passengers.
2017In the 'post KLM' years, 2017 ranks as a good one with 6 visits by 4 aircraft, all in the final 4 months of the year and all sports team related. A pre-season friendly between Seville FC and Everton on Sunday 6th August brought in Trade Air Fokker 100
9A-BTD. Seville FC arrived from a game at Bournemouth 2017 on Saturday 5th, the aircraft departing for Cardiff 35 minutes later. It returned from Genoa 0300 on Sunday morning and stopped until taking Seville home at 1936. Next was a different Trade Air aircraft
9A-BTE, which arrived with Olympique Lyonnais FC on Wednesday 18th October for a Europa League game against Everton. The aircraft departed for Tronheim at 1439 empty, returning empty from Krakow the following day at 2315, leaving with Lyonnais at 0041 in the early hours of Friday 20th back to Lyon. Finally on Wednesday 22nd November Atalanta FC arrived for a Europa League match with Everton at 1134 from Bergamo on Avanti Air GmbH Fokker 100
D-AGPH. The aircraft positioned out to Paris/Orly 55 minutes later. Later the same day, at 1711 Avanti Air Fokker 100
D-AOLG arrived from Orly and sat at Liverpool for the whole of Thursday, before departing with Atalanta back to Bergamo at 0108 in the early hours of Friday 24th.
2018A not dissimilar pattern of Fokker 100 visits in 2018, with 6 visits by 3 different aircraft - and like 2017 all were sports related charters. Catalan Dragons rugby team flew in and out on Carpatair (KRP) Fokker 100
YR-FZA to do battle with Widnes on Saturday 3rd February arriving in early afternoon and leaving directly after the game. Catalan Dragons were back on Thursday 29th February, this time on Carpatair's Fokker 100
YR-FKB arriving late afternoon, with the aircraft night stopping before a late afternoon departure the day after. With Liverpool FC in the Kiev European Cup Final, one of the operators involved was Trade Air (TDR) of Croatia, who positioned in Fokker 100
9A-BTD from Oslo during the evening of Friday 25th May, leaving with fans for Kiev/Borispol early the following morning. The same aircraft returned with fans early morning of Sunday, with the aircraft position back to Oslo 70 minutes later. On Saturday 4th August Trade Air, again using
9A-BTD operated from & to Perpignan with a rugby team to face St.Helens. Arrived late morning and departed the following evening. Finally two days later on Monday 5th August, Carpatair were back with
YR-FKB, operating from & to Turin, arriving late afternoon and returned to Turin shortly after midnight on the 8th. The aircraft brought in and took home Turin FC for a friendly with Liverpool FC at Anfield.
2019Just the single visit by a Fokker 100 during 2019, with Carpatair using
YR-FKB on Wednesday 2nd October. Operating from and to Linz with Red Bull Salzburg fans. After arriving in the morning the aircraft stopped at JLA before departing back to Linz at 0300.
So, onto with visits by Fokker 100s into the Twenty-Tens decade:2020Just a single visit again in 2020, this time Carpatair were chartered to transport Zilina FC of Slovakia on
YR-FZA from Piest'any to meet in a preliminary round European game against All Saints of Oswestry. Zilina FC arrived in the early afternoon of Wednesday 26th August, departing in the early hours of 28th after the match.
2021In 2021 the sole visit by a Fokker 100 again featured Carpatair and
YR-FZA. On Saturday 9th October the Catalan Dragons arrived from Perpignan in the mid-morning to face St.Helens in a Super League Final played at Old Trafford. They returned hone in the early hours of 10th after the match.
2022Once again Catalan Dragons used Carpatair and
YR-FZA to travel from Perpignan for a game against Wigan Warriors. They arrived mid afternoon of Friday 2nd September, running late after poor weather in Southern France, and departed back to Perpignan just minutes after midnight the following morning.
Last updated up to the end of February 2023, by which time the number of Fokker 100s still operating around Europe have become few and far between. It remains to be seen if there ever any further appearances by the type at JLA, or if the Fokker 70/100 is going to join the Caravelle, BAC-111, Trident, VC-10, Boeing 707, Douglas DC-8 and other first and second generation jet airliners in the realms of aviation memories.
