Just this morning had this e-mail from Lloyd Robinson:
I have vague recollections of Peter back in the late '60s when he was much involved with NAPS, and I was just getting going with the MSAE/A-B Liverpool Branch. I'm sure that many of the original members of the MGAE will be saddened by this news. Peter was very much involved in the early days of aircraft rescue and restoration in the UK and very active in the Northern Aircraft Preservation Society and the production of 'Control Column' magazine.
Just a note of caution to those who were members of the MSAE/MAS that there was more than one Schofield/Schoefield around in the 60's.
Ladies and Gentlemen
I am sorry to be the bearer of sad news, but today I received a call from Peter Schofield’s son-in-law informing me that he had died early on Saturday morning. He’d taken a fall back in March and had been hospitalised in various hospitals since without fully regaining consciousness. Just last Thursday he’d been transferred to a Care Home on Anglesey.

From the nwan forum thread on the rescue of Avro Avian G-EBZM, a photo taken either May 1959 or June 1960 with Peter near the middle of line, wearing a yellow Polo style shirt:
(cab end) Ian Keast, Bryan Heatley, -?- ,Tony Sarsfield & son (lorry owner), Peter Schofield, Jim Cassidy, -?- , Phil Butler (tail-gate end) - as Phil Dale is not on the photo, he could be the photographer, but as he has no recollection of the photo, maybe with someone else's camera!
Many thanks to Lloyd Robinson, keeper of the TAC images library for supplying this photo and giving permission to use it here.
