A few things got me annoyed today in the news I am auditioning for grumpy old men soon 1. Some pathetic group has moaned at the cost of £84k a year to house a serving Army Brigadier and his family This group would be better employed moaning about refugees and illegal families being housed in far better Mansions costing a far more, without adding all the benefits they also receive, which can and do amount to more than this soldier earns 2. An equally pathetic group has complained that the new airport body scanners are illegal as they infringe people and minority groups human rights and liberties Perhaps being allowed to take an explosive susbance onto an airliner is a better option then Are these groups part of a care in the community programme 3.Plastic Bomb detectors made of a car ariel and empty black plastic case sold for millions and used to monitor check points in Afghanistan and other volitile situations. Made in UK and exported from UK. About a useful as dowsing

This thread could run for years...
My contribution for today:- The story about Mossad, using fake British Passports as a cover for giving the head of Hammas his just desserts. We know that the British Passport is not only highly sought after but freely available. Just how freely, really makes me mad.

Hmm Ron, today for me was the Health and Safety Executive decision to cancel an ancient pancake race which had been held for decades, WHY ? in case anyone taking part fell or tripped and could injure themselves. You cant make these up now can you.

Another slice of our culture bites the dust. I wonder how soon cutting the throats of sheep in the street at the end of religious festivals will be allowed? I suspect that no health and safety issues will be raised re sharp knives etc. Sad news item--taxi drivers have been told to take down their stickers of the cross of StGeorge and the line saying English speaking driver It seems this is offensive and racially divisive. If it wasn't true you could not make it up. These incidents are happening daily in pockets all over Britain and are forming a large body of preceedent to be called on by other authorities to justify their actions. Taxi drivers who display their national flag and proclaim their native tongue should be ashamed of themselves for offending the master race.

On a much brighter note though Ron, the Royal Navy (well part of what is left anyway) has been deployed down to the South Atlantic to act as a deterrent as the Argentinians are sabre rattling again over the proposed oil drilling in the waters surrounding the British Owned Islands.
Now an MOD spokesman today said we are seeing "Modern day Naval diplomacy in action" ? is that the same as that used in the waters off Somalia I wonder, if so WE ARE DOOMED and sadly also will be all the Brits on the Falklands who rely on the UK Military and Diplomats to look after them.

And the fact is that if the Argies invade again we do not have the ships to do anything about it now. A task force is out of the question and we will go cap in hand to the UN asking them to tell the Argies to get out, fat lot of good that would do.

With a possible oil fortune at risk--I think we will defend our own(money that is s.. the Falkland Islanders.) A sad comment on our times.

Guys - look up Mount Pleasant Airfield on Wiki, and then check it out on Google Earth, especially the size of that apron! It's certainly one of the biggest British RAF station I've been on, and not a Portakabin in sight, so it's there for the duration. The fact that they built the officers' houses with conservatories facing the north is another matter altogether! Every Falklander I spoke to told me that they were sure there was oil in the area, (exploratory drilling had taken place some years before the Argentine invasion). Why else would Argentina have invaded? A bit of sheep rustling? Trust me, the UK is well placed to protect itself against another possible invasion, should Argentina be stupid enough to try. Remember, we had no hardware on the Falklands last time at the outbreak of hostilities - this time we do.

THe Argies won't be daft enough to have another go at the Falklands. We have over 1000 troops there with RAF support and now the Navy is on the job. They are just rabre rattling. The Argie people don't have the stomach for a fight; they are too busy living day-to-day. It will all be a storm in a South Atlantic teacup.

The Argentinian leader is now female,so that doesn`t bode well if she gets PMT and at the same time sets her sights on the Falklands ?
