Well after 53 years of flying and 43 years of aeroplane ownership (initially as part owner) I finally had to admit defeat today. I saw my beloved G-AXVB fly away in someone else's arms and it was very upsetting. I have managed to comply with, deny, circumvent, find alternatives to many of the obstacles, unfair costs, pointless bureaucracies, EASA and all the other sh*t they have thrown at me, in an attempt to stop me ( and many like me) from flying The last straw? BREXIT. the value of my income and savings have diminished to an extent where some life changes are necessary. Added to that the uncertainty of operating a G reg. aeroplane in Europe after March 2019. What is upsetting is that I have beaten the bureaucrats but have been done in by my fellow citizens and some of my family. I am not crying poverty, and I will probably find a way to keep flying somehow, but my days of aeroplane ownership are over.I have lived the dream, which is more than many have been able to do. Here is a pic of our machine with my co owner Janette and our first daughter in 1975. Here is a picture taken just yesterday, we me looking quite a bit older and the aeroplane if anything looking almost like new. Just look at my reflexion in the paintwork.

Well that is very sad Ron - my commiserations. I suppose it all had to come to an end one day, but perhaps on a day of your choosing rather than one which was forced upon you.
I trust the new owner will lavish as much care and love on her as you did.
I would recommend a few glasses of vin reserve to help deal with the parting Ron. Bon chance!

Hi Barry, Thanks for your best wishes. I attach a bitter/sweet message from the new owners who are the most charming people you could imagine. and like me and Janette, I am sure they will take care of our aeroplane:-
Dear Ron and Janette ,
Your Airplane is just amazing , nice cruise speed 100-110 kts, and it climbs like a rocket . Yesterday on our way to Genova ve reached FL110 withouth any problems . We will send you a trip report and some photos attached as soon as we get home. The plan for today is genova-zagreb-tg mures , about 6 - 7 hours of fun . It was a pleasure to meet you and we are expecting you to come to romania to have a look at the new home of G AXVB .
Thank you ,
Sergiu

It must be like losing one the family Ron.
Many of us have enjoyed reading the tales of your travels with great interest.
I hope you will take up the offer of a trip to Romania.

Thanks Kev, Its been a blast. I am considering this as my next move. Might be Ok if I can carry a roll of duct tape and some bailing twine in the spares kit. club.ulm.luconnais.free.fr/?lng=frRon

Ron
Very sad when things overtake us and force us from the air. I have not flown for about 10 years since our Arrow BHIR met its doom, and my flying buddy passed away.
Still miss it every day and long to join a Cirrus group.
Gardening is never a substitute. Regards
Clive
