Frequently, I try to send my photos in emails. More often than not, I can only attach 4 photos at a time. I am told this is because my photos are about 1 meg each in file size.
There must be a way of squeezing them into a smaller file size, but I don't know how. Any experts out there that can help? Thanks.

Ron, one way if you are registered to Photobucket or similar for uploading pics onto the forum use the reduce size feature in the programme and then email them from that size. There are also some downloadable prgrammes made just for this purpose, If I recall the name of one I will ,let you know unless anyone else does. graphicssoft.about.com/cs/digitalimaging/f/howreducesize.htmgraphicssoft.about.com/cs/digitalphototips/ht/emailpicsxp.htmThere is of course Picassa 3 the free album from Google which allows direct emailing from a chosen folder, it also reduces the file size prior to sending via your chosen email programme. ;D

Blimey Ron how long have you got? ;D
What package do you use to edit the pictures? Most within the Save As routine will have the option to set the compression on .jpg files. 1 usually being "uncompressed" and the higher you go the smaller the filesize but also the more impact you have on quality.
For good quality at 1024x682 I usually can get a filesize of between 300-400kb for no more than about 4-8 compression, but you can halve that size easily and still retain good quality.
There are a couple of free image viewers which will do the job for you. Irfanview gets good reviews but the one I use is FastStone which tends to load a lot quicker than the editing programme!
Also you might find your e-mail is limited as to the amount you can send from your outbox! This varies greatly with service providers.

Ron relating to my mention of Picassa 3 from Google, I just did a test by sending an original 3.5mb jpg direct from a folder on Picassa, it automatically reduced the file prior to sending to 55kb it was that simple.

Could anyone give me a simple blow by blow account of how I can get my photobucket shots to load onto the forum in full size--I have looked for the increase in dimensions to 17 and cannot find it anywhere. Some days I wish I was a geek lol

John loading to the forum `Full size` will cause problems for viewing surely due to the massive size from most unaltered digital shots ? or am I missing something.

;D I guess its me being a bit picky--some of the great shots on the forum are full width and mine are diminished in size and are not as spectacular. One of the members has resized a few shots and filled the available space and it does look better. I saw just hoping to present my shots in the best possible light--they do need it. Any tips would be welcome.

John,
Next time you go on Photobucket and before uploading your photos, you will see the following words immediately under the 'Upload images and video's tab';
Use CTRL to select multiple files (more options)
Click on (more options) and select 17"
Steve
P.S. Don't forget to save.
