Hello John
The site Alex has posted has some good directions. Some locations have more traffic than others, the M6 Pass and Dunmail get the most traffic up here in the Lakes. The position i took these pictures is on the West side of Dunmail Raise about 400 foot up a quite steep hill (it takes me 15 to 20 mins to clamber up there). I would advise you wear some good boots and i always use a walking stick (which has saved me falling on my a%&e countless times). Also, Dunmail acts as a venturi so even with general light winds it can get quite windy up there. So warm clothes are a definite must!
Just to warn you it can get very frustrateing at times. Last week i was up there for four hours and not a thing came through low, just one Hawk quite high. Then when i got back to the car three Lossie GR4's came screaming through!!! Doh!
Happy hunting!
Cheers
Shaun
