;D I'm sure this is an age thing and I do find the cartoon type schemes very interesting but some of the original airline colour schemes really do take some beating.
The Air France,SAS,Finnair colours are simple but beautiful.
I wish we still had BOAC colours they were a touch of class.
The photos are just brilliant --as usual on this forum--worthy of an art gallery and a wider audience.

Totally agree with 'johnoakes' on his comments-the BOAC VC-10 in blue and white with subtle gold highlights just oozed class !!

Bob, do what I have done. I was doing Atlanta again next year but I've book Japan instead. These great photo's have made my mind up. All i need is a decent digital camera (yes folks I'm the only person in the spotting world to be still on slides :-) ) and hopefully I can post the results on here

Steve,
I would wholeheartedly recommend Japan, ok it's not the "numbers fest" of Atlanta, Los Angeles or Vegas but the quality, variety and spotting facilities more than make up for that. Not to mention the cultural experience!
Over a 2 week period I made the following count of airliner frames not including military, biz or GA:
Tokyo Narita = 166 Tokyo Haneda = 192 Sapporo = 30 Nagoya Komaki = 12 Nagoya Chubu = 65 Fukuoka = 32 Osaka Kansai = 76 Osaki Itami = 18 Okinawa Naha = 15
I'll post some shots of the viewing facilities, shame the UK doesn't follow their example!
Just shout if you need any more details.
Cheers,
GC

Part of the viewing deck on T2 (ANA terminal) at Haneda. This is the deck with Tokyo bay as a backdrop. Pre-cut holes through the fence at regular intervals! A local spotter on the viewing deck at Nagoya Chubu. The horizontal wires are flexible enough to allow large diameter lenses to pass through. Cheers, GC

Part of the viewing deck at Osaka Itami and a funny aside. We stayed in a hotel about 15 mins walk from Itami, the route taking us down some back streets and past a "7-11" type convenience store. We spoke very little Japanese and the 2 guys in the store spoke no English. I tried to order some fried chicken on a skewer, the Japanese guy held up 2 fingers to which I said "no, just one" in a Birkenhead/Welsh accent! Well, the Japanese guys went into a blind panic, apparently my reply sounded like I had ordered 10,000 pieces of chicken in Japanese! Next a most surreal scene on the viewing building at Osaka Kansai. The wedding was a Japanese couple in a Christian ceremony, the Minister looked and sounded like he had just been plucked out of a Vegas chapel! We also experienced an earth tremor whilst on this building, it unnerved Daz and I a bit but the locals took no notice at all. The "bridge" landing shots were taken to the left of this area. Final shot shows Daz on the left hand viewing deck at Okinawa Naha, JMSDF P-3 Orion ramp is just to the left. This was the only viewing deck were there was an entrance charge, can't remember exactly how much but it was around 50p! Cheers, GC
