I was flying today, looking at the flooding not a stone's throw from where I live. I apologise for the poor quality of the images, but maybe they are of interest. Here you can see the Gulf de L'Aiguillon and how it has burst over the dykes and taken over a huge area of previously farmed land, small hamlets and farms. Next the town of Charron (Sharon) which is more or less isolated and as far as I could see, most of the homes are surrounded by water, said to be about 1 metre deep. Another pic which shows how the sea has taken the land back. Finally just in the top LH quarter you can see a small island. This is actually a hillock about 350 ft elevation, where a small community used to live. The sea has taken all their land back We experienced wind of over 100 mph. At one moment I was out in it securing part of the hangar door which was rattling away. A frightening experience with bits of tree branch and roof tiles flying everywhere. Even though I thought everything was secure before I went to bed, I had to shore it up with timber. (It would have gone inwards and flattened the '172.) Compared to others we are quite Ok. We have made our airfield available to the rescue authorities and the police as Lucon hospital, just a few minutes away, has no helipad.

My God its even worse than the tv has shown. Glad you and yours are safe--our phone conversation didn't indicate the extent of the carnage. How long before the farmland will be viable--years?
