Now it's confirmed that the new bridge is opening midnight Saturday 14th October 2017 will the old bridge still be operational this week-end or is it closing midnight Saturday to coincide with the new bridge opening? Regards Les McS

Now official. The new bridge opens midnight this Saturday 14th. I hope you mean 0001hrs Saturday 14th not 2359hrs on Saturday,apart from that Brian nice photo's the bridge looks good

Yes it is 00.01 Saturday - the expression in the press release is a little confusing and sorry I repeated the poor display of the inforation.

My wife came over last night and said the barriers are already in place to block off the roads to the old bridge as soon as the new one opens.

Few points of clarification: Fireworks Friday evening Nice touch having fireworks to celebrate the demise of a free facility and the imposition of a taxed one. Four tolled crossings across one short river. Isn't that some sort of a record? I think all our local MPs should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen.

Believe they didn't want to open it straight after the firework display in case anything went wrong as it is Friday the 13th, hence 00:01 14th!!
