I know he had a licence but only a PPL or similar and that was out of date ? What amazed me was the fact that with all those airlines he worked for including Jet2 how did he fool the Training Captains on sim check rides, and not even a slip during flights that covered 13 years and 10 years. Is he that good.

;D
Aaaagh! I flew Jet2 Leeds to Chambery and back. Thought the rough ride was down to the ropey old 737s they fly.
Its nearly as bad as the surgeon in the Burnley hospital who performed many operations before they discovered his cetificate was in fact his brother's with his name forged onto it.
He said when caught out that you learn a lot from watching the others.Perhaps this pilot has the same excuse.

In the whole of my working life, nobody ever asked me to produce a certificate which proved I had the qualifications I claimed. whereas every time I go for my PPL validation I always have to produce my license, log book and medical certificate. I can only suggest that in this case the pilot was checked by training captains who went to the same school as the social workers who allowed a man to abuse his two daughters over 30 years. As has been said before in different contexts, all it takes for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing.

I blame microsoft flight sim personally, and virtual airlines Perhaps we will see police issuing a ticket to pilots now and allow them 7 days to produce the relative documents.
