I was at the end of 27 on Friday, first time for quite a long time. There was surveying taking place. Does anyone have any idea what is to become of this area. Are we about to lose the last place to spot at LPL, or is the spotting area to become official as was the "news" a few years ago

I believe the CAA are insisting that the 'mound' should be removed or at least be 'out of bounds'. There have been representations made to Airport Management about creating an official viewing area as near as possible to the mound that complies with CAA requirements but no indication as to the practicality or cost.
Would spotters be prepared to pay something to park at such a location? It would assist the case for a proper facility.
How much would people be prepared to pay? £2.00 for up to four hours?
Any facility would have to close at dusk and then be secured. Also would need for height restriction to avoid it being a white van park.
Sensible responses would be welcome and give some substance to the case, which FoLA could put forward to the Airport. Information by 5 April could be fed into the FoLA general meeting on 6 April and into other meetings at which LJLA management will be present, scheduled for the following week.

The field at the side left hand side of the 27 threshold would give a 'Manchester' style viewing area if a couple of mounds were put in. I think this land is privatly owed though!

i pop in and out quite frequently throuout the week & weekends ,stop for dinner ,have a break etc mostly park on the road to the flying school now ,and use the mini mound there ! , a charge of £2.00 per visit >:? and i wouldent be going anymore ,maybee a 1 off fee for the year ;)with a badge to put in the car window as proof like the disabled badge scheme ? or be affilliated to friends of liverpool airport ( fola ) pay a yearly nominal subscription and be a member , but how would it be controlled ? someone in a booth ? he has to be paid for ? all sounds like a expense the airport wouldent support .i dont think jla is really active enough for something that manchester has in the style of the avp.which is a bit expensive but can be a good day out. car park cafe concorde veiwing mounds etc
