Bet that news wont make the regional news tonight.
Bet the news that MAN has again shown double figure % loss in February wont make the regional news either.

This is a brilliant achievement in view of the general state of UK airports at the moment. But you are equally correct in saying that it will not feature much in the regional media. It is frustrating for we observers of LJLA to see the airport ignored; what it must be like for the Media team at LJLA, I shudder to think! It makes me want to come out of retirement and get amongst the media types and sort them out! This really must be of concern to LJLA media team when they see the item earlier in the week which said that MAN would equal Heathrow by 2050. i almost fell out of my tree with laughter. To achieve that they would have to close down every other airport in the north of England. Not possible, but carried on North West Tonight as a lead story. It makes me despair. But let's end on a positive note and say congratulations to EVERYONE at LJLA for achieving such wonderful results.

Well, if so many of you feel this way about the incumbent media team at LJLA, which from frequent posts it would appear you do, stop whinging about lack of coverage by the BBC et al and campaign to get rid of them, for people who can do a better job!
You clearly feel you are not getting value for money.

Buspilot,
The past few post regarding the media team at LJLA, if you read them carefully, are behind the LJLA team (including the one outlined in blue by you). What is being commented on (as 'needing sorting out) is the Manchestercentric media, who appear to praise Manchester Airport at every turn and pick on any slight failing at Liverpool with glee. Take this week, lead item on BBC local news was a report that Manchester by 2050 will be busier than Heathrow is now (in your dreams), but choose to totally ignore Liverpool entering the UK 'Top 10' airports during 2009 (ie the real and current news, not crystal ball conjecture).
This complaint is not a new one, but has been particularly apparent this week. LJLA media & management put out a clear Press Release (see the link at the top of this thread), it what the media (tv, paper & internet) do with that Press Release (ie ignore it, because it is a Liverpool 'good news' story), that is so upsetting to postees above.

Hear hear Viscount--perhaps we would do better if our MEP wasn't Mcr orientated.--(can't keep politics out can we--it is the only reality-ie its where the rules are made and changed) Wish we had got past Bristol--its beginning to cost me a fortune if ever Capt.T gets here.LOL

Thank you, Viscount, for putting Buspilot right on this issue. Last nights BBC News was typical of the problem associated with Liverpool news. The programme was obviously very short on material so they had the weather girl at Parkgate with bird spotters! All very well in its place IE: the northern equivelant of Spring Watch, but when a great success story stands up, and in particular about our airport, it is ignored by the BBC newsroom. THIS is what must frustrate the media team at LJLA, for whom, incidentally, I have the greatest admiration. Please, Buspilot, read the messages in context.

In answer to Buspilots comment,we dont want to get rid of the BBC,we just want our own station,as the ulimate aim,All other big cities have got one,why should Liverpool/Merseyside not have one.I am sure to people of Greater Manchester would not want a regional news service coming from Liverpool,so both need thier own service,Personally I blame our political learders over the years for not making this an issue,We all pay a licence fee,for the BBC whether we like it or not, thats a lot of revenue from this area, for what is a very small local radio station, And buspilot if everything is so great in Manchester what are you doing on this board then.

Great news for Liverpool. Back where the airport should be in the rankings. It would be nice to see LPL go that bit higher, but I don't think so for quite a while, if ever, so I reckon I don't have to worry about buying pints just yet. Probably, by the time it happens, pints will be banned by law in favour of 0.454 ml., or dare I say, mint tea.
As for the do, chez moi: maybe one of these days. I am thinking of having a "fly-in" in September. Food for thought.
Final thought. If Rafa doesn't get his finger out soon, the numbers passing through the airport will fall off the bottom of the table.
