Me and the lad spent yesterday at the 5th Ashes Test at the SCG in Sydney - great day with the Barmy Army giving the colonials a bit of a warm up at one of the great cricket grounds of the world. Kinda highlighted the difference between sport fans from the UK and Oz - UK fans get behind their teams whether winning or losing - the Aussies only sing when they're winning.... . I don't really think the Aussies "get" our kind of support - when the singing starts, the security staff are all up on their feet even though there is never any trouble. England did ok yesterday until the last 5 minutes - the ground was half empty by the last half hour

Reminds me of the first test match I went to. Old Trafford 2003 England v the West indies. I didn't have a camera back then.

Indeed, the sight of a beer cup snake being made by a few that have had a bit too much to drink. I've never been to an ODI before. A few years ago I entered a comp in the local newspaper to win tickets for every Lancashire T20 home game and surprisingly won.

Also lucky enough to be there brilliant occasion. In the members enclosure level 3 right behind the Bowlers arm followed by a few beers in the historic Pavilion pictured. Apart from the price of the ale 2 top days!

Hi Mike - Glad you had a good time - you would have been in the new Bradman stand at the members end then to be behind the bowlers arm. Nice stand - we were in there for a couple of games in the world Cup a couple of years back (when De Villiers scored his 160 odd not out off 64 balls for SA v Windies) and later for the England v Afghanistan game. We were in the Trumper Stand at the Randwick end for the Test this time. Agree the re price of beverages - we always take our own refreshments now (non-alcoholic since we have to drive home!!) The old Members and Ladies stands are a piece of history frozen in time - we sat in the Ladies Stand to see England v NSW about 3 tours back (they only open a couple of stands due to low attendances for these games). The SCG is a terrific ground. Off to the ODI on Sunday next cheers JD
