The Welsh Assembly subsidise the Anglesey/Cardiff route to the tune of over £1m. With the new Assembly building nearing completion in Llandudno Junction and many Assembly members representing North East Wales constituencies, is there an opportunity for an airline to re-open a liverpool/Cardiff route? It may be attractive to, say, easyJet if the subsidy was still in place. I realise it is a short hop route but so is the I-O-M. Use of the route may also put pressure to re-instate the Halton curve and bring direct rail services from Liverpool into North Wales. Although it is sad to see the Anglesey route under threat, it may be a good opportunity for Liverpool airport. When one door closes another opens/every cloud has a silver lining etc etc.

The current PSP contract from the Welsh Assembly for the Cardiff-Anglesey flights runs out shortly (possibly, end of March or end of April ?). Tenders had been invited for an operator using 30 seater aircraft (eg Jetstream 41). Have not heard if the new contract has been awarded, or a start date.

I wonder why the Scottish powers to be have not been approached to fund the Scottish Island routes as it must be an important link to civilisation and the main land for many islanders who without an air connection will be forced to endure hours on sea crossings. Weather seems to be the main reason for the collapse of this airline with debts mounting due to aircraft being grounded in bad weather. Must be an answer for a successful operator to step in.

Loganair operating for fly be. will take over the routes in the western isles from Monday,
