I've just spent the best part of a week scanning and restoring a set of negatives I took at RAF Ouston, Northumberland, on 16th September 1974. RAF Ouston closed to flying shortly afterwards, so these images represent the last significant activity before closure. I've added the full set to my RAF Ouston website, here sites.google.com/view/raf-ouston-research/red-arrows-at-oustonBelow are a small selection from the 40-plus now displayed on the website. XP531 (nearest), XR991, 987, XP514, XS111, XR993, 955, 540, XS107, Red Arrows, Ouston, 16 Sept 74 (2) p1fws by Philip Pain, on Flickr XP531, XR991, CFS Red Arrows, Ouston, 16 Sept 74 (4) fws by Philip Pain, on Flickr XR897 (near), XP531, XR991, XP514, CFS Red Arrows, Ouston, 16 Sept 74 (19) fws by Philip Pain, on Flickr XV211, Red Arrows support, LTW, Ouston, 16 Sept 74 (1) fws by Philip Pain, on Flickr Many of the negatives were badly marked by light getting onto the film, so for example, the photo of the Hercules landing has a whole new port outer propellor and wing, plus replacement trees in the background. This is why it has taken me 44 years to attempt the restoration task! Thanks for looking.
