Have decided to treat myself to a decent monocular as my prezzy from my retirement pot and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of a shop in the area or midlands...looking for straight through eyepiece versions. ...also any suggestions re a particular model would also be appreciated MTIA Dave

Hi Dave It depends on how big your pot is, if i had the money i would go for a Opticron spotting scope. Try this link www.opticron.co.uk/Pages/hred_scope08.htmThese are expensive but well worth the money. Also check out EBay as you might find a bargain, but beware there are a lot of cheap scopes on there. Phil

Dave, it is always worth checking Ebay as some suppliers use the site as a shop front with a direct link to their home web site.
Just looked on ebay after search for monocular and found a shop in Stockport.
Welcome to SBTC Binoculars Ebay Shop. We also have 2 showrooms at Stockport 0161 429 8002 and Rotherham 01709 300 212 for advice and to give all our customers a total after sales service. We have been trading now for over 20 years

Hi Dave,
Fully agree with G-PHIL about Opitcron.
I've had the HR66 GA ED for about 4 years now and find it absolutley fantastic. Mainly used with the 28xWW eyepiece but occasionally with the 70xWA.
It's pretty robust, surviving a 3 ft drop on the carpark at FLL!
I bought mine online from warehouse express, but I'm sure Daz Kellett got his from the shop at Martinmere bird reserve.
Hope this helps,
GC
