When you've finished your garden Photogenix you can come round and start on mine!
If EI-DHS does leave Tenerife it will probably end up in Dublin that is now open.
I'd have thought low level flights over the Irish Sea could have been sanctioned today.

According to a Radio4 item today the met office sent up a plane today with `special equipment`on board able to locate and quantify volcanic ash.It flew up and down the UK at various heights and found....................yes,you`ve guessed it...............nowt. Am I the only one who thinks that,as a society in general,we collectively have a really curious attitude to risk.On the one hand `the powers that be`have become almost totally risk averse, presumably because we,the Great British Public want it that way. And yet,if you go into any town centre on most nights of the week you`ll find thousands of people smoking and getting p***ed out of their skulls. It`s as if we expect others to keep us completely safe but we have no notion of,or responsibility for, personal safety. Mike( my son) and I were supposed to be going to Riga and Tallinn this weekend. We were going to see the Greatest Band In The World play in both cities. And yes Metallica are TOO LOUD.They have probably damaged my hearing over the years. But I know how loud they are and I still want to go.I`ve assessed the risk. Its my choice. I`ve just watched `Brassed Off`on the telly, kind of sums-up things up really!! PS I`m doing a 300 mile charity ride later this year(risky!!) Anyone interested in sponsoring me can do so at: www.bmycharity.com/V2/wadoki

Yes, you can jump off Blackpool Tower using a handkerchief as a parachute if you wish but don't expect a company that has invested millions in aircraft to put them, pilots and other passengers, at risk. The ash stuff is known to be detrimental to jet engines so the risk is too great to take. Imagine the outcry if aircraft were falling out of the sky because an airline wanted to keep profits up! I don't doubt your desire to take risks but don't expect me to come along for the ride!

As I type,Tuesday evening 20th April,UK airspace is opening and all airports will be open tomorrow.
So what has changed?...........The volcano is still erupting and the wind still blows from the north.
The realisation that the risk can be sensibly managed has dawned. The perception of the risk has changed, that`s all.
Forcing thousands of people to undertake long overland journeys has actually put those travellers at far greater risk of injury than them taking any flight at any time.Road travel is much riskier than air travel, especially if the driver is tired and stressed.
In some respects, this is our fault, all of us.We expect too much.Life is not safe.Leaving home in the morning involves risk. This decision could(and should) have been taken days ago.
Gareth,cyclist.......more dangerous form of transport than flying over volcanoes.
