Just as Gordon Brown became the ex PM ;D all my telephone and broadband services crashed as did many other peoples who are connected to Virgin in my locallity. Just wondered if it is a local fault or a regional one as I cant report it via landline or any other method at the moment. I did wonder if Gordon Brown took a fuse with him when he exited N.10

I have lots of issues with Virgin Media. Sometimes I cant connect to various sites. My email is rubbish. I cant add attachments or open attachments in emails. I'm not convinced about all the hype concerning fibre optic technology either. When they connected me to their network, they used the cables that were already installed from their box to my house, put there about 10 years ago by Nynex!! And of course I cant understand any of the call centre staff, who all speak in pigeon English.

All fine here in Bolton, but I too am not impressed with Virgin. As for Golden Brown going I now have my vaseline at the ready as I feel Cameron will be hurting very soon.

I worked on the Nynex installation and it is all fibre optic to the area distribution cabinet ( the green box usually not far from you). From the cabinet it is sent by coax cable to your house so if it that hasn't been replaced with fibre optic cable you are still on a hybrid service. The telephone is by copper wires from the same cabinet.

"The telephone is by copper wires from the same cabinet." Even though VM are offering higher speed broadband at 50 it wont work unless all the cables are fibre optic. including from the green box and into your home,as Davel has mentioned. I qualify for a free upgrade but was told by a helpful VIrgin engineer not to bother as my speed would not show any appreciable speed increase. As for picking a service supplier they all have faults. Its just finding one you can live with.

Mmmmmmm............ so it's not Gordon Brown's fault then. I think that many of our contributors are going to miss dear old Gordon; they will have no-one upon they can pinned every fault in the world. Withdrawal symptoms may be the order of the day.

Withdrawal what. not from me sir they won`t. I must admit though his departure speech (he read) was sincere and soooooooooo welcome.
