A handful of Barton photos - all dates unrecorded, but most likely sometime mid to late '90s. Digitised from gloss prints. A very long term Barton resident 1979-2005, G-AWWO Jodel DR.1050 G-BLAC Cessna FA.152 based at Barton 1980-1993 the registration 'fixed' for owners Lancashire Aero Club 1980-1990. Hercules fly-by, presumably the same public display as the crowd shown on the previous photo attending.

I remember the excellent airshows at Barton. Cannot remember exact years but a few things stand out, like if I remember correctly, did Jim Keen crash in his Stearman, sure someone can confirm that! Also the USAF F111 that could not find the airfield. As well, unfortunately the fatal crash of the scaled down Mustang. The F4 Phantom suddenly appearing out of the murk on a grotty day at about 100ft. Good memories which I'm sure some of you chaps will also recall.

Herc flypast may be 1988. Low flypast after parachutists had all landed. Same year also had two passes by concorde, one of which was with wheels down....not bad for a small grass airfield.
I seem to recall the F111 did an impromptu display at Ringway instead of Barton

I had a 1/6th share in G-AWWO from the mid eighties up to early naughties. It was a nice aeroplane to fly, it was subsequently written off at Crosland Moor, but has since been rebuilt with a different type of engine instead of the 100 hp O-200. Nice to see those photos of WO.
Cheers
