Hello Folks
My first visit to the M6 Pass for a few months. The weather was not what you would expect for May; bitterly cold easterly wind with some heavy showers, not the sort of day you wan't to be sitting on a hillside! So i wimped out and stayed with my car parked up in a layby on the Kendal to Tebay road, the major drawback of doing this was that you get very little warning of approaching aircraft.
The highlight of the afternoon was a Harrier T12, this was one of the jets from two pairs of Harriers from the OCU at Wittering. The pairs were two minutes apart with what seemed like only a couple of seconds split between the aircraft, so i only managed to photograph one of each pair. The T12's are much rarer than the GR9's at Low Level.
ZH661:109 Harrier T12 4 (R) Squadron. The old 20 (R) Squadron markings have now been removed leaving just the Harrier OCU markings (of a Welsh cat on a blue disc) on the fin. I guess they are still saving up for the 4 (R) Squadron stickers?
XX324 Hawk T1A. A very plain looking Hawk which the various internet sources qoute as being with 19 (R) Squadron at Valley. Can anyone out there confirm that?
XX285 Hawk T1A 100 Squadron. Still wearing the 100 Squadron 90th Anniversary scheme from a few years ago. I didn't realise until i looked at my photo that they had painted the underside of this jet as part of its special scheme.
ZF343 Tucano T1 72 (R) Squadron. Probably the most common traffic through the M6 Pass, although only two of them on this occasion. I think the pilot had clocked me and put a wing down to give me a bit of a topside.
I hope its a bit warmer next time i get up there, then i might even get out of the car!
Cheers
Shaun
