Morning everybody. Flew out to Tenerife from Manchester last week. Had to use Man as ever there are no decent flights to Tenerife from Liverpool. Booked a package with TUI , should have been a 737Max so really did not know what we would get to fly out on. So check in an team member apologises that we have been put on an Air Tanker A330. Thought no need to apologise for that. A 737 load on a 300 seater great. Quite odd inside, fully civilianised but crewed by Air Tanker and for all purposes was a civil airline called Air Tanker. Had 4 Tui reps but they didn't actually do much, they just used the Tui trolleys to serve us. Obv couldn't resist opportunity to grab one of the staff guys on board to discuss Air Tanker , so while the cabin waited he showed me loads of his pics that he had recently taken when they went down to the Falklands refuelling Typhoons.
Anyway after check in we had gate A12. As ever whenever I fly anywhere I always get the gate that is the furthest point from anywhere else in the airport, this time it was the far end of the new pier. (Should say we parked in new West car park which is equally a long walk from what was "old"T2. I must take a contradictory view to Baldyman re this pier/Terminal , while it is not yet complete and travelators are not in operation it is a very impressive addition to terminal. All photos on i phone (only a 6 !!) so not perfect but judge for yourselves. At the entrance door is advises to leave 12 minutes to your gate.
