Is it just me, or do others notice that there have been several crashes involving 737-800s ?

Not sure they can all or if any could be attributed to a design fault or problem? if you check out some of the incidents they involve, instrument failure, weather, and pilot error, all are the usual causes. I would hope these days that by the time such a high number of modern airliners are in service the majority, if not all design concerns would have been sorted pretty much.

Is it just me, or do others notice that there have been several crashes involving 737-800s ? I was thinking the same until I looked into it and found its because there have been five fatals in a short space of time The type first flew in July 1997. Since then over 1200 have entered airline service. Of these just eighteen have been involved in incidents of which eight have been total write-offs. Of these, five involved loss off life and five hundred and twenty seven people have perished in the type to date. The first none fatal incident involving a 738 was with RAM's CN-RNJ when it was hijacked in August 1999. The first to be written-off was PR-GTD owned by GOL Transportes AĆ©reos in September 2006, with one hundred and fifty four fatalities. Other fatal crashes were; Kenya Airways - May 2007, THY - February 2009, Ethiopian Airlines (ex Ryanair EI-CSW) - January 2010, and now Air India. Airlines with none fatal write-offs are American Airlines, China Airlines, and Ryanair (EI-DYG).
