A few people on here may remember the texpat, aka Graham Baker. Graham and I were at school together and in fact were in the Combined Cadet Force and did a few camps together - St Mawgan, West Malling and Henlow - yes it was that long ago! He joined the RAF after leaving school but never really enjoyed it and having left, joined British Eagle ops at Speke. When Eagle folded, he went to Luton to work for Monarch. He was then offered a job with World Airways after Generalissimo Franco closed the US bases in Spain, organising the airlifts back to the US. With this experience, World asked him to move to Australia, which at the time was being used as a base for the evacuation of troops from Vietnam. Finally, he was invited to move to their then base in Oakland,Ca. Following the demise of World, he joined American Airlines and moved to Dallas.
He retired to a town called Cleburne, about 50 miles (or 1 hour's drive as the Americans describe it), south of Dallas, where he used to foster rescue dogs. (He had five of them living there when I last visited him).
Sadly Graham died of a heart attack on Tuesday morning. He had spent his entire life in the industry and was a huge fan of all aspects of aviation.

Very sorry to hear this. I used to enjoy his posts - what a fascinating life he had. He must have been at British Eagle around the time of Ken Fielding; I don't recall the name, but could possibly have met him. I had some friends when I was at Northwest Airlines who had been involved with Air America in Vietnam (oh the stories!!!), as well as at Northwest, Braniff and Pan American who were heavily involved in both passenger and freight flights. I looked at the map to see where Cleburne is, and would have driven right past it several times while driving on Interstate 35W. It was a shame I didn't know him, because I could have stopped by for a cuppa and hours of trading stories. RIP Graham.

thanks n by n:
Yes, you are right and I've informed Ken and he's promised to put something on the Eagle website. I think he was in touch on there from time to time, so a few on there will know him. For sure he'd have been happy to see you - he was always happy to talk to anyone about Liverpool and/or aviation, but preferably the two together!
