Not quite sure where to put this, so mods please feel free to move as appropriate. I notice that from time to time, various aircraft pass through the airport down the road on ferry/delivery flights. Just a day or two ago, there was an Ethiopian Dash 8 passing through. Now, given that MAN is apparently slot restricted these days, I am somewhat surprised that they can find a slot for such traffic, or frankly that they really want it. Very little ferry traffic seems to pass through LPL, but to my mind it seems an ideal transit point for short-haul aircraft in transit. As an example, for the 748 and 125, we used to use Miami as a transit point, until it became too busy and we were messed about, so we began to use Fort Lauderdale (FLL), because it was quicker and easier and had cheaper hotels and (restaurants than Miami and less distance to travel to the centre from the airport. I wonder if maybe FOLA? (for example) could do some research as to when transatlantic deliveries are likely to take place and contact the operators, whose decision it invariably is, and offer LPL as a potential stopping point. Just a thought...

Manchester is only slot restricted at certain points in the day, and the time this Ethiopian transited through, it was a relatively quiet period and certainly not slot restricted. Even LHR has certain posts of the day/week that has slots for flights such as cargo and deliveries.
Also, you need to consider MAN is an online station for Ethiopian, so, the handling contracts are already in place and the fees likely discounted to allow for the fact ET is an active user of MAN (including the fact their B787 sits on the ground all day racking up the parking fees).
All in all, it’s not just the slots that need to be taken into account, it’s the bigger picture such as those detailed above.
