;D Great that a newer generation is rediscovering Flanders and Swann. I once met Michael Flanders at the Century Theatre in Manchester where he was making a local radio broadcast--loads of years ago-- I had the pleasure of surrendering my theatre seat to make way for his wheelchair--and I do not mean that in a sarcastic way-- it truly was an honour--such a great bloke and a true gentleman.
His radio programme was about Edward Lear and we were allowed to stay for it after the theatre performance.A sad event for he died not long afterwards and his show was full of pathos.
I remember the song well ,have sung it whilst under the influence for many years, and slightly altered versions (ruder) that we sang on rugby coaches returning from matches.
As all know I do not subscribe entirely to France's version of their great military past but having worked with people who were captured at Singapore I would think that people in glass houses should project missiles carefully.LOL
Hope we are all wearing red on Fridays from now on.
Spin that if you can Mr.Brown.

;D Just remembered another line or two to the song. "and crossing the channel we cannot say much, for the French the Italians ,Germans or Dutch. They play all our games and they cheer when they've won and they practice beforehand It ruins the fun but the English the English the English are best I wouldn't give tuppence for all of the rest. Flanders and Swann --happy days without spin. Hope they come round again in my lifetime.LOL. Thanks for that Ste-t it brought back seriously happy memories. Remember to wear RED on Fridays.

It's OK John I'm glad you liked it. I was introduced to their music through listening to records my late father had. As kids we used to play them all the time. I was made up when I found youtube had a few on their site. Makes great listening.

It all makes work for the working man to do was a favourite of mine too. Harmless fun, always tongue in cheek. Thanks again.
