Yes, Colt G-ARGO was a Liverpool resident throughout 1984 at Liverpool with Dr Goodman, clearly just visiting Squires Gate March 1984. The paint scheme looks very fresh and in style I associate with Tri-Pacers rather than Colts. The original factory Colt finish on Golf Oscar was a light tan brown wedge on the rear fuselage.
G-ARGO's association with Speke goes right back to early 1962 when it was the first aircraft acquired by Jim Keen for the new Liverpool Aero Club.

Another lot of scanned and restored slides, these from April 1984. Some nice heavy metal, but the main theme is some interesting registrations, of which F-BOOZ has got me intrigued. I can't find any ownership details for it online, but have found "Booz" as a surname, so perhaps it is a personalised registration? Another batch from May into June 1984, but including a fortnight when I was away on holiday. Highlights include a Spitfire; the mysterious "Goldwing" (can't find any photos on the web); a unique 'tail strike' on a Twotter; one of Thatcher's Ministers, later assassinated by the IRA; a GROPE; Donald Duck; and Wullie the Wasp. Definitely well into the silly season at Blackpool! Thanks Ian, and I don't know why I'd forgotten, but I did get one at Farnborough in 1982. This one is registered, and also fitted with spray bars! G-MBZH, Farnborough, 8 Sept 82 by Philip Pain, on Flickr I see that yours is captioned as a Eurowing product, so presumably this is why I couldn't find anything on the web under Modern Air Sports. Also if you search for "Goldwing" you get a thousand hits for some motorbike!

Try modifying a Google search to concentrate the replies by adding 'aviation' or 'aircraft' etc, so 'Goldwing aircraft' directs straight to a Wikipedia entry and a couple of other site, not a motorcycle in sight. Seems that it is an American design rather than European. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldwing_Ltd_Goldwing

In front of their Sponsors, the Press, and invited guests there was a reception, to be followed by a display routine. I was one of the guests. The whole event was wrecked by a succession of blustery showers and very turbulent air that precluded any flying, let alone a display. The day wore on with the three pilots looking increasingly stressed and struggling to keep everyone entertained. Eventually, any hope of flying was abandoned and everyone dispersed. Then, as often happens on such days the weather cleared, and it became a beautiful evening, which is when I took a couple of photos of the Pitts, and then I went home; G-BDKS, Marcus Edwards, Blackpool, 29 June 84 by Philip Pain, on Flickr G-BECM, John Maclean+, G-BADY, Andy Wallbridge+, G-BDKS, Blackpool, 29 June 84 by Philip Pain, on Flickr Within the next hour or so the team decided to go up for a display practice at their usual location over the sands near Fleetwood. In my own opinion they had had much too stressful a day, and should have left it at that. They were performing an opposition maneuver called 'threading the needle' where G-BADY would fly between the oncoming G-BECM and G-BDKS before G-BADY turned left and away. It collided with G-BECM and both aircraft fell to the sands with fatal results. Marcus Edwards could do nothing to help, other than call for the emergency services. He went on to become a very well known display pilot, flying among others, the DH Sea Vixen. The first funeral that I ever attended in my life was that of Andy Wallbridge, and it was also notable for a very well executed 'missing man formation' flown by Comed Aviation. The three aircraft came in low, fast and loud, before suddenly cutting their engines and lifting silently away. Very moving, and a fitting tribute. Some four years later I was working at Bristol Airport when an ancient Bristol 170 Freighter came in with a Pop Group on tour. Out stepped Andy's wife Nicky, she recognised me and I asked how she was doing. I've married another pilot she said, to which I rather insensitively replied "you've got to be joking!" "I know, she said, he flies Harriers".

Some great memories there , have them all in my own collection but probably in Black and White. Amazing to look at the personnel ramp action back then - no hi-viz vests and no hearing protection near G-APES Merchantman with engine running ......health and safety would have a field day if that was today. However .......much happier times
Keep them coming

Lovely pictures from an airport I have never been too- looks like it was quite a busy airport during the 80's- Love the pictures of the Vanguards and Argosy G-APEP is at Brooklands and I believe the Argosy G-BEOZ is at the Aeropark at EMA. Thanks for sharing.

More scanned and restored slides, from July 1984. Bit of a 'Loganair Fest', plus a root around the hangars. The Automobile Association Conquest G-AUTO had recently changed hands, but it was at the time still unique for being the only UK based 'G-AU--' registration, out of sequence.
