The first part was getting a bit unwieldy, so I'm starting afresh with the next batch of photos. This was the start of Winter Time and the start of a significant expansion at Blackpool Airport, two new scheduled routes, Heathrow, and Teesside (to link to other offshore production centres), plus the new contract to fly weekend newspapers to Belfast and the Isle of Man. Also a new handling agent came with these services, Reed Aviation. Add in the annual 'landladies specials' and the 'Irish Weekends' from Dublin, there is a lot of 'heavy metal' in these photos, and who says "that the camera never lies?" G-APES, Blackpool, 22 Oct 83 (1) by Philip Pain, on Flickr Reed Aviation had been to an military surplus sale, sadly painted out shortly afterwards. We flew to AMS in early 80's on a MAS trip in G-RVIP Embraer Bandeirante and we received VIP treatment. Many memories. Excellent photos Acklington. Beemer. As an edit. The 1st light aircraft I flew in was G-BEWR that is also in your post.

Great pictures and brought back a few memories. The picture of the Air Bridge Argosy brought back memories of an afternoon at Speke. About 5 of us had gathered at a gate overlooking the British Eagle hanger in the mid 60’s where a RAF Argosy had parked. The crew came over and asked if we would like to see on board. Too right,. Doubt it would happen in today’s world.
Also the Vanguards. Flew from Liverpool to Rotterdam with Invicta International, great flight, lots of room on board and a pilot who decided to carry out the steepest bank I have ever experienced over the docks of Rotterdam.

Many thanks for the comments 'kuga', and here are the next batch of photos from January and February 1984. Some nice visitors including the Twin Pioneer, a MAFF Islander, a new Manx 360, and also a 'modern' oldie the former G-AWED, the second oldest Piper Navajo imported into the UK. However the Aer Lingus BAC 1-11 was probably even older. Oh, and there is £3.5M quid as well! More great memories , that looks like Mr Darby refuelling the Twin Pioneer , optical illusion ....looks like he has a cigarette in his mouth 😀 doubt it though 👍 That's what I thought! Wouldn't surprise me, although maybe it wasn't lit? The first Twin Pin (previous batch of photos) had access up through the cockpit roof hatch for the second bloke to fuel on top of the wing. But on this G-BCWF it looks like a small set of steps are near the tail for someone to get access along the top of the fuselage? And the small set of steps still had "Air UK" logo on them from before 1980. Also,in the G-BFOH Bell 47 photo there is a white line on the tarmac alongside the fuel farm. The white line has "DC3" on it, and also "MW" which I've been trying to figure out what the "MW" signifies?

Next lot of scanned and restored slides, these through March into April 1984. Includes the only non-British aircraft ever to serve with CAFU; a 1942 DC-3; a Whirlwind; a nice Auster (at last!); and the famous Air Botswana Hercules. I now recall that a lot of the business aircraft visitors through Blackpool were clearing Customs, as Blackpool had a permanent Customs presence whereas Warton and Walney Island did not.
