You need to write an Email to Mr. Xavier Huby (xavier.huby@seine-saint-denis.pref.gouv.fr) and explain what you want to do, where you live, etc with a copy (photo) of your passport, etc. You should apply for the permission asap because delivery can take some time. The permission is supplied free of charge. Oh, and in French too.

Something like this should do the trick
Subject: Photo demande de permis: Paris Charles de Gaulle Aéroport
Cher Monsieur,
Je voudrais aller à Paris - Charles de Gaulle de prendre des photos de mon appareil pour une utilisation personnelle (mon hobby est la photographie aérienne).
Puis-je vous demander de me donner l'autorisation pour la photographie.
Nom: <your name> Adresse: <your address>
Merci pour votre aide. <your name>
Send by e-mail as per Stu's post attaching a copy of your passport photo page
Alan

I sent my e-mail in English and received the permit within 5 weeks, which I was pleasantly suprised about.

I take it that the same permission is required even if you only wish to take down registrations? Bob

There's no expiry date on the pass so hang on to it!

my permission came by post 2 days ago. not bad only about 2 weeks. so looking forward to the trip, thanks for all your help. Been to charles de gaulle about 6 times only spotting and no problem, security at the wedding cake a bit less relaxed, so hopefully will cover most things. cheers Frank
