One of our pet cats killed a baby starling overnight or early this morning, anyway, before I had time to clear the corpse a bluetit landed on the said bird and started to peck it, strange I thought, may be insects on it, so as my binoculars where to hand I viewed what was going on. The bluetit continued pecking and it was plucking belly feathers from the dead bird, I presume to line it's nest.
Anybody else seen similar behaviour?

I was checking the fishing lake which I co run whilst on my allowed daily walk today. Not Bluetits but have been watching Sparrows pecking at a dead Blackbird, they were too taking pieces of feathers. Maybe its for building nests not sure? I never thought Sparrows would go near a dead Blackbird. Every year once the Canadian Geese leave (only two) all manner of birds and wildlife recycle their nests of feathers etc. Roll on lockdown easing then I can go fishing again, the local Heron is loving it, catching more than us, free meals and run of the lake.
