Present state of Flying Scotsman

Here's a pic of Scotsman that I took just one week ago at the NRM.



I last visited almost one year previously to the day. Sad to say, progress is slow.

However the streamlined LMS Duchess is a wonderful sight;

You may be interested to know that another classic loco, "Mallard" left the NRM York yesterday for the NRM's other site at Shildon. It was taken under tow by the new-build steam loco, Tornado. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go and witness it though as I was otherwise engaged.

My brother (Network Rail Traffic Manager, based York) approved the movement on the main line and advises that it arrived safely.
