On Sunday 24th saw four light aircraft at 16:00 hrs in formation. I was in Westhoughton. Aircraft appeared to be heading east, possibly following M61..... Any ideas..??

Flew over Sale later @ 1,000 feet heading SE to towards Ringway. One of the 4 was a biplane. Quite a tight formation to my eyes.

Hi Planemike
I might be able to help here. A similar formation, one Biplane and three monos, did a very wide loop over Chorley on Sunday (7th). The four aircraft were all Barton based aircraft as follows:
G-BVJX - Marqurt Ma-5 Charger (biplane) G-RKID - Vans RV-6 G-DVMI - Vans RV-7 G-CCIR - Vans RV-8
Hope this helps
