I'm now into my 2nd period of furlough which is possibly more difficult than the 1st one. At least during that one I had blue skies and long days to do some OTT spotting. This time however the skies are cloudier and OTT traffic is sorely curtailed. Anyway, about 15 minutes walk away is Reddish Country Park. 2 large ponds and the River Tame plus some woodland and open fields. Ideal for some bird watching. Armed with my Boys Book of Birds and camera off I went.
This little fella was seen lurking under an overhanging bush, and no amount of food would lure him out for a clear shot.Mandarin Duckmandarin reddish vale 090121-1 by CloudWarrior2010, on Flickr mandarin reddish vale 090121-2 by CloudWarrior2010, on Flickr This chap however had no such qualms and swam around like he owned the place.Swan Gooseswan goose reddish vale 090121_edited-1 by CloudWarrior2010, on Flickr I've been unable to identify this next character, hoping our resident naturalist Phil can obligeduck reddish vale 090121 by CloudWarrior2010, on Flickr

Yes, I would agree that it is some sort of hybrid Mallard. Phil
