Two T.6 Texans have just done approaches for r/w 09 and turned off short and went towards the IOM. ZM331 T.6 Texan VYT77 @ 12:15hrs ZM326 T.6 Texan VYT89 @ 12:20hrs Was this planned thinking the airport was open?

There's been a lot of trouble on Anglesey with people up in arms about the noise these aircraft are making doing training over land only. The reason quoted by Valley RAF was that Texans are not safety equipped yet to fly over the sea! If so could they, therefore, have been going to the IOM?

Could well be that the equipment deficiency between the standard (mostly over land-mass) US cockpit emergency equipment and the RAFs suddenly discovered short-comings in over water emergency equipment has now been overcome and the appropriate gear now approved, sourced and fitted? It is now some months since the problem was first recognised and announcement made regarding over water flights being restricted.
The fact the T-6C Texans went to the Isle of Man is supported on the Isle of Man daily thread.

It is now some months since the problem was first recognised and announcement made regarding over water flights being restricted.
